Steve was born on November 22, 1959, son of Kenneth and Ruth (Carter) Horner. They preceded him in death.

Steve will be sadly missed by his children: Megan, Luke, Isaac, Samuel, Robin, Christopher and Jacob; sister, Sharon Stratton; as well as his extended family and many friends.

Steve was a printer at International Paper in Peoria for eighteen years, until their closing in 1995. He was later employed, as a printer, at the Pekin Daily Times for several years and also in their circulation department, until the time of his passing.

Steve loved Florida and lived there for a short time. He had even kept sand and sea shells from where he used to live. He enjoyed watching movies and had a great love of music. His favorite bands were Guns N Roses, Staind and Rainbow. He enjoyed discovering new bands and music, through his son's, Luke's, mutual love of music.

Steve's sister, Sharon, thought growing up with a little brother was fun and remembers teaching him things she was learning in school. Relatives and family called him “Stevie”, as a child. He liked sports and loved animals. He always had dogs or cats around! He liked the Minnesota Vikings and was excited about the Vikings clothing Sharon sent him for his birthday...especially the Adrian Peterson jersey.

Growing up, Steve and Sharon had fun on family vacations to Florida and West Virginia. The ocean was his favorite place!

Steve loved his children. When he worked third shift at International Paper, he would come home and play with them and watch them, while his wife, Judy, went to nursing school. He always talked about the kids and enjoyed their visits after his divorce. He liked when the kids were involved in school sports and loved attending the wrestling and football games. Various career opportunities could have taken Steve out of the area, but he chose to stay and remain close to his children

Steve’s final work was to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.
